Methodology &
Process

A. Exploration

The exploration process is the starting point of our operation, where potential mining areas are identified. We adhere to JORC standards by employing traditional drill-pit methods, which offer extensive information about the quality of nickel ore within the exploration zone. To augment this data, we utilize advanced technologies, including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and LIDAR topography mapping. Through the integration of the data gleaned from these various techniques, we derive the most accurate ore data, which then informs our production activities. Our mine engineers leverage this precise data to delineate and determine the locations of mining pits. The identified locations are subsequently communicated to our production department to kickstart mining operations. Concurrently, our exploration endeavors persist in uncovering new potential zones within our forestry license (IPPKH) boundaries, ensuring a continual source for future production.

B. Production

PT AKP currently operates multiple open-pit mines, employing a systematic approach to ensure efficient ore production. Following the extraction process, representative samples are collected and sent to our well-equipped laboratory for comprehensive analysis. The ores are subsequently stored in designated intermediate stockpiles within domes.

Upon receiving the test results, our team can accurately assess the quality of the ores stored in each dome. Our stockpile management team then coordinates the transfer of ores to the designated final stockpile area. At this stage, careful blending

techniques are applied to achieve the desired ore quality, while also reducing moisture content. The blended ores undergo additional sampling to obtain final quality results before they are prepared for shipment.

A notable advantage of our mine site is the strategic location of the final stockpile area, which conveniently adjoins our jetty. This proximity minimizes the hauling distance for shipments, optimizing operational efficiency. Furthermore, our extensive jetty boasts the capacity to accommodate up to nine barges simultaneously, further streamlining the shipping process.

C. Quality Control

Ensuring the quality of our extracted nickel ores is of paramount importance, necessitating the establishment of our own laboratory. Equipped with three XRF machines, our laboratory swiftly provides accurate mineral content data. This data enables us to strategize and manage our stockpile effectively, ensuring that the ores prepared for shipment meet stringent quality standards. Our quality assurance team has undergone training from internationally accredited surveyor companies, ensuring alignment between the ore data we obtain and the information gathered by independent surveyors during the shipment process.

D. Reclamation & Revegetation

PT AKP upholds a steadfast commitment to restoring the natural ecosystem in areas where mining activities have concluded. Thorough planning of mine pits is a pivotal step in this process. Once a mine pit is depleted, our fleet transitions to a new pit, enabling the initiation of reclamation and revegetation efforts in the exhausted area. We have a dedicated team specializing in reclamation and revegetation, consistently delivering remarkable outcomes in multiple depleted mines. To ensure superior and expedited restoration results, we collaborate with independent reclamation consultants in accordance with the ESDM (Ministryof Energy and Mineral Resources) reclamation plan. Our approach involves utilizing local vegetation and engaging local residents in the maintenance of the planted trees, fostering community participation and environmental sustainability.
